**Hurley Con** Hard at Play

Ir’s been a while since my last post but what better way to get back into it than something as exciting as Hurley Con!!

WALL OF COMICS

Talk about overwhelming!! I’d never so much as read a comic book let alone visited a shop, and there I was at a comic book convention surround not only by walls and tables of comics but also a thick and cherished history!

While setting up, it was amazing to see the pride and time put into preservation of these books. Learning terms like “longbox” and “trade paperback” were just the beginning to my journey. We also had to unload the trailer, take out and set up the tables, put together the shelves and racks, organize the boxes,

Learning how to play DS

OK you caught me it wasn’t all work. Actually it was a great deal of fun and I got to meet a bunch of different people!

Some of the people I met while booth hopping had some interesting displays…

Starbase 21: As the show started and throughout the day I got to see so many different things that the vendors were offering. I’d have to say my favorite non-comic items would have to be the pins and patches 🙂

There were tons of cool items like star trek pins and a Dharma Initiative patch for you LOST fans, Not to mention, this particular group of gentlemen will be hosting a Star Trek Expo in Tulsa, OK  from June 25-27 at the John Q. Hammons Arena. …….. with………… special ……. guest ………. William ……… Shatner. ^.^

One Example of the Awesome Artwork at Three Trees Studios

Three Trees Studios: Some other characters I met along the way were the group of guys from Three Trees Studios. From what I gathered during my brief booth visit was there were at least a couple of teachers (there were free bookmarks on the table) and all of them have a love for the creative outlet of artwork.

The image on the right  kept drawing my attention but Three Tree Studios also have several books they have put together, including Random Ink and Rook City,  along with multiple webcomics.

Wrap Up: All in all it was a great introduction/ experience in the comic world. Marksman and I had some crazy good fun!!
