Thoughts on X: House of X #2

Welcome to Thoughts on X: House of X #2, the third in our series! So far we have reacted to the #1s of both X-Men relaunches by Jonathan Hickman. Today we have House of X #2. As with the previous entries, I will be reacting to the book without actually talking about what is going on or spoilers. Let me know what you think of this format, and how we could make it better!

Well that is definitely new.

So..ok…looping?

Well that was intense and kinda foreboding. I suppose this is all leading up to the encounter from issue 1.

I am loving the art this issue.

So that was the world we know?

Damn..#7 is dark…

Wait, where is #6??

Well the outcome of 8 should been obvious….

AAAnd the encounter from issue 1…

So wait….which…..some 10, some 4……none…all????

So Hickman’s done it. He’s completely turned the history of mutants on it’s head without a universe reset and kinda irrelevant to anything else that has gone on with universe resets, reality bending or anything. It’s still not entirely clear what reality as we know it exactly is…it kinda opens up the path that all of it is sampled, kinda makes this person who we thought we knew the center of everything. Totally rebuilt the character but doesn’t break them. I guess 10 is based on 4 marking the similarity. I am verging on spoilers here though so I’m gonna stop.

While #1 was good, #2 is a masterpiece. It’s one of those rare time in mainstream super hero comics where you KNOW you were witness to something so masterfully done, it is scarcely believable. There is mystery to be revealed yet though. There are gaps, holes that need to be filled. I imagine that between Powers of X and House we will get many of those answers. Damn it…I may be getting Hickman’s main book now too…

Well played Mr. H…well played.
