British People Are Far Too Delicate to See a Man Impaled by a Staff

The Cockamamy Coulson Controversy is over, just a few short days after people with little common sense believed a small, weird bit of editing in the U.K. Blu-ray release of the Avengers was somehow a masterplan by Marvel to bring back Agent Coulson (only in the U.K., I guess). The fact of the matter is that British people are fragile delicate flowers who may emotionally destruct if they something pointy sticking out of a dude’s chest. From Disney UK Home Entertainment spokesperson Lydia Rodrigues: “There’s been no censorship, no foul play. The version of Marvel’s Avengers Assemble [the U.K. title for The Avengers] on Blu-ray disc in the U.K. is the same as the version shown theatrically. It really is. The simple fact is for a 12 certificate film in the U.K., that scene was deemed inappropriate. So Marvel Studios chose to remove the spear tip digitally.”I want Coulson as much as the next guy — probably much, much more, actually — but this was not the way he was gonna come back. It’s just that seeing a dude get impaled is likely to turn British people into violent, lunatic anarchists, much like seeing a female nipple turns Americans into homicidal dog rapists. We all have limits, people. Nothing to be ashamed of. (Via Spinoff)
