This Boss Boss-Music Spins Sexy NiGHTS Into Saxy Dreams

Here’s a quick story. I was in New York last weekend, hanging out at Kotaku friend and columnist Leigh Alexander’s apartment. We were going through her PS3 library looking for random stuff to play, and we dug into the PSN re-release of the Saturn game NiGHTS into Dreams.

Okay, cool, I know a bit about this game, but haven’t really played it. And then she gets to the Gillwing boss battle. And THEN, the saxophone starts playing.

Man, I’ve heard some great sax solos in video games, but nothing this straight-up Sanborned out. With that entrance at 1:01… ha! It never gets old.

The NiGHTS soundtrack was composed by Sega composers Tomoko Sasaki, Naofumi Hataya, and Fumie Kumatani. Learn from them, composers. Study their work. More video game boss battles need shredding pop sax solos.
