From the Real Pacific Rim: Kim Jong-Il's Kaiju Cinema

When not busy being a global nuisance who starved his people to make nuclear bombs and inspired ronery marionettes, the late Kim was also an aspiring filmmaker. That cute critter above is Pulgasari, his attempt at besting the Godzilla flicks with his own giant monster, based on a North Korean folktale and featuring an anticapitalist theme.

Probably because we didn’t want to encourage an awful human being like Kim in any way, these movies haven’t exactly gotten widespread release in the west. But now he’s dead, and we say enjoy – the entire movie is currently on YouTube. Besides, as a dedicated hater of capitalism, he’d want you to see it for free, right?
