EA Earnings Down Despite FIFA, Simpsons iOS Sales

EA reported earnings for the third quarter of its 2013 fiscal year today. Net revenue for the quarter was $922 million (down from $1.061 billion last year), with digital revenue accounting for $321 million of the total. EA pointed to FIFA 13, Battlefield 3 and The Simpsons: Tapped Out as highlights for the quarter, while Medal of Honor Warfighter and the overall decline in industry sales over the holiday season led to lower earnings.

Specifically, FIFA 13 has sold 12 million units to date and Battlefield 3 Premium subscriptions are nearing 3 million. EA said The Simpsons: Tapped Out was the top-grossing iOS game for the quarter (earning $23 million in sales) and is set to be released for Android soon.
