DICE: Journey Was Originally Named Utopia, Had 4 Players

Journey began as a four-player game in 2006 called Utopia. It had a physical push system and a totally separate resource mechanic, and once it reached full cycle in development and testers played it, everyone said it sucked.

thatgamecompay co-founder and Journey creator Jenova Chen asked Sony for an extra year of development time to get it right. Sony said yes, and the rest is history, Chen explained during his keynote address at DICE 2013 today.
