From Uncharted to Final Fantasy, we go over our hopes for this year’s E3.

By Destin Legarie

E3 is about to start, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have some hopes of our own for the show. Last week we asked you which games you hoped to see the most at E3 2014 and after receiving over 230,000 votes we had our answer. Final Fantasy XV, Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4, Batman: Arkham Knight and Uncharted on the PS4 were your most anticipated titles and you know what? They’re the games we want to see too. All this week we did mini-features telling you why and to help build excitement for E3 2014. Below you’ll find the videos for both of our most anticipated games that we hope to see at E3. Oh, and you can follow all our E3 2014 coverage at IGN.com/e3.

When Square Enix re-revealed Final Fantasy Versus XIII as Final Fantasy XV at last year’s E3, I pretty much died. The trailer showcased a gorgeous, frantic, action-based RPG set in a world not unlike our own. I wanted nothing more than to get my hands on it.
Flash forward a year to E3 2014, and it’s still the game I want most. I want to see what Square is able to do on the new consoles, and whether or not they’ve learned from some of their mistakes from this past generation. I want to dig my teeth into this new battle system and see how it matches up with some of my favorites from the past 30 years. But most of all, I want to believe that eight-year-wait since Versus XIII was originally announced has been worth it. – Marty Sliva

Star Wars Battlefront always felt like a Battlefield game, inspired by its tug-of-war style Conquest gameplay, so it’s fitting that developer DICE is bringing the dormant competitive shooter back to life. It’ll be interesting to see how the evolution of shooters, both within Battlefield and the rest of the industry around it, influence the direction of the new Battlefront. Competitive gaming has grown enormously since the original, and shooters are very different beasts, so it should be exciting to welcome a new Star Wars game into that arena. – Mitch Dyer

It seems like it’s about time for a new Fallout game, doesn’t it? Bethesda released Skyrim in 2011, and it was a huge success. But what’s the studio working on now? It’s been silent on the Fallout-front aside from a few teases an ambitious prankster worked up, and some copyright arguments, so let me say this to you now Bethesda — we want a new Fallout game. Fallout 3 was one of the best games of the last decade, and the follow-up by Obsidian was lauded by fans. While we’re not sure which city we would like to see as a desolate wasteland filled with Behemoths and Ghouls, there is one thing we know we would like to see make a comeback: the V.A.T.S. system that made those gory kills oh so rewarding. Please make it happen at E3 2014. You’ll make a lot of us very happy. – Destin Legarie

Batman: Arkham Knight

swfobject.embedSWF(url, videoDomId, jQuery(‘#’+videoDomId).width().toString(), jQuery(‘#’+videoDomId).height().toString(), swfVersionStr, xiSwfUrlStr, flashvars, params, attributes, swfObjectCallback);

Batman: Arkham Knight is one of my most anticipated games this E3 simply because of its pedigree and potential. Rocksteady has already made two amazing Batman games filled with fluid combat, exploration, and all the bat-gadgets I could ask for. But Arkham Knight takes everything I knew about the series to the next level with one major improvement: The Batmobile. This Tumbler-esque creation is not just Batman’s sweet ride, or a nod to the Christopher Nolan directed films. Based on the trailers, its practically Batman’s partner in crime. For a while after Arkham City, I worried how the developers would expand the series. So far, it looks like they took a great approach. One that takes advantage of improved console hardware and adds in a powerful ally to single-player without subtracting from the great fan service and action this series is known for. – Jose Otereo

Uncharted PS4

What’s most exciting about Uncharted PS4? The fact that we know nothing — and not just the usual brand of nothing. When it launched the PS4 in November, Sony announced that Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond were in charge of the game for Naughty Dog and debuted a teaser for Uncharted PS4 that was narrated by Todd Stashwick. Now, all three of those people are gone — no longer attached to the project or working with Naughty Dog. Will Uncharted PS4 be at E3? Will it still star Nathan Drake? Are the minds behind The Last of Us in charge of this title? When is it coming out? With so many questions swirling around PlayStation’s biggest franchise, it’s no wonder IGN readers can’t wait to get some answers. – Greg Miller
