How I Met Your Dad Picked Up to Series

Update: Despite widespread reports that How I Met Your Dad has been picked up, CBS and 20th Century Fox are saying the pickup has not occurred as yet, reports THR. However, THR adds that their sources say the show is indeed moving forward.

CBS have picked up the How I Met Your Mother spinoff, How I Met Your Dad, for the 2014-2015 TV season. The series is considered a “format” spinoff, in that it doesn’t center on any of the HIMYM characters, but rather takes the same basic concept with a new group of characters.

Greta Gerwig (Frances Ha) is the lead, with a supporting cast that includes Nick D’Agosto (Masters of Sex), Andrew Santino (Mixology) and Tiya Sircar (Star Wars Rebels). How I Met Your Mother’s Carter Bays and Craig Thomas created the series, along with Emily Spivey (Parks and Rec, Up All Night).
