Things That Aren't Really News Trifecta: Killer Instinct, Doctor Who, Avengers

• Let’s start with the newsiest of the non-news: Microsoft has renewed its trademark for Killer Instinct. This is almost certainly not for a reboot of the fighting game series, but more likely just so they can bring the original arcade game to Xbox Live. Fun to think about, though. (Via Destructoid)• Matt Smith said the idea of filming an episode of Doctor Who in New Zealand would be fun and cool and maybe they could get Peter Jackson to direct it. Peter Jackson said “Sure!” THIS MEANS NOTHING. Don’t get your hopes up. (Via The Mary Sue)• Thanos, who we all thought would be the baddie in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers 2, has been confirmed to be the baddie in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers 2. Honestly, I was kind of hoping they’d save Thanos for Avengers 3, partially because I think seeing the Avengers fight more traditional supervillains like the Masters of Evil would be awesome and help differentiate the sequel from the original, and partially because it’s hard to top Thanos, man. What will they do for Avengers 3? Hope Fox changes its mind about Galactus? (Via First Showing)
