Former Xbox Exec Hired for Unreal Engine 4 Studio

Epic has hired Laura Fryer as general manager of its Seattle studio. As Epic announced last month, the Seattle facility is focused on the engineering efforts for Unreal Engine 4 and its mission to become “the premier game engine for a multitude of platforms.” Fryer has been in the industry for more than 17 years and will “manage Epic Games in Seattle and direct its strategic goals.”

Prior to accepting the position at Epic, Fryer most recently served as general manager of WB Games Seattle, overseeing development for Monolith, developers of Gotham City Impostors and Guardians of Middle-Earth.” Fryer previously worked for Microsoft Game Studios, serving as director of the Xbox Advanced Technology Group and as a founding member of the Xbox project. Fryer launched XNA , created the Xbox Advisory Board and served as excutive producer on Gears of War and Gears of War 2.
