38 Studios, Big Huge Games Assets Sold for $830,000

The assets of 38 Studios have been sold for a total of $830,000 in two auctions. As revealed last month, the assets of the fallen Kingdoms of Amalur Studio were sold in two separate auctions, one held in Rhode Island on Tuesday and one held in Maryland the week prior. The Rhode Island auction brought in $650,000 according to the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, while the Maryland auction — representing the assets of 38-owned Big Huge Games — brought in $180,000.

The auctions were said to include high-end computers, servers, graphic design and animation equipment, office equipment, office furniture, audio recording equipment and more, but did not include the intellectual property of the studio, including the Kingdoms of Amalur franchise and the canceled Project Copernicus. The intellectual property will be sold separately via a negotiated transaction expected to take place some time between now and the first quarter of 2013.
