CCP, the developer best known for space-age MMO Eve Online and the ill-fated Dust514, has reportedly laid off 49 members of its Icelandic staff.
Polygon reports severance packages will be offered to those affected. The layoffs come just months after the decision to cancel planned MMO World of Darkness, which the company had been working on for an extended period of time. That decision saw 56 people let go.

“As part of our strategy to focus on the EVE Universe, today CCP conducted a restructuring that resulted in the layoff of 49 people in our publishing organization,” a statement reads. “Though it is hard to say goodbye to our friends and family, this action concludes the process we started several months ago. CCP has provided severance packages and job placement assistance for those affected.
“Development teams and plans for EVE Online, EVE: Valkyrie, DUST 514, and ‘Project Legion’ are not impacted by the restructuring.”
IGN wishes the best of luck to anyone affected by the news.
